CW MARS recently rolled out an electronic library card (eCard) to allow patrons without a library card fast access to electronic collections. The CW MARS eCard makes library content more accessible for patrons who have difficulty physically getting to the library or who primarily borrow electronic content. Apply for a CW MARS ecard by clicking the image at right.
eCards give Lenox Library cardholders access to over 170,000 eBooks, audiobooks, and magazines as well as local eContent, including:
- Databases including Consumer Reports and Mango Languages
- Newspapers including the Berkshire Eagle and The New York Times
- Streaming video access to Indieflix, Qello and The Great Courses, and more!
This eCard is for Lenox residents without a library card from any other CW MARS library. It can be upgraded to a full library card, which allows patrons to borrow and place holds on physical materials, by visiting the Lenox Library. To apply for an eCard, a patron must:
- live in a Massachusetts town with a CW MARS member library
- be age 13 or older
- not currently have a library card from a CW MARS member library
During the pandemic, libraries have seen an increase in the usage of electronic materials. CW MARS continues to see checkouts of electronic materials climb. In fiscal year 2021 there were over 1.9 million checkouts on eContent, which was 24% higher than the previous fiscal year.
