The Lenox Library is pleased to partner with Church on the Hill to present a free community screening of Hello, Bookstore on Saturday, November 5, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. A Q&A with Matthew Tannenbaum of The Bookstore will follow the screening.
This event will take place at the Church on the Hill meetinghouse (169 Main Street). Carpooling is highly encouraged.
The Hello, Bookstore documentary celebrates our town’s beloved bookstore and chronicles how, in the shadow of the pandemic, our community rallied to protect it in its hour of need. A landmark in Lenox, The Bookstore is a magical, beatnik gem thanks to its owner, Matt Tannenbaum, whose passion for stories runs deep. Presiding at The Bookstore for over forty years, Matt is a true bard of the Berkshires and his shop is the kind of place to get lost in. This intimate portrait of The Bookstore and the family at its heart offers a journey through good times, hard times, and the stories hidden on the shelves.
What reviewers have to say about Hello, Bookstore:
“Richly moving and almost transcendental. A salute to the sacramental qualities of art that are threaded through everyday life.” – Owen Gleiberman, Variety
“A tribute to the love of reading and the pleasures of a smartly stocked bookstore. Tannenbaum’s fondness for his store and its wares is a beautiful thing to behold.” – Lisa Kennedy, The New York Times
“Compelling and heartwarming. A drama worthy of Hollywood magic created by Frank Capra and Jimmy Stewart.” – Thomas Farragher, The Boston Globe
Join us for an evening that celebrates this very special place in our community!
