We have two great events this weekend that we are sure your family will love!
Friday NOVEMBER 6th 6:00-7:00PM
Birds of Prey Family Night at the Lenox Library
Come meet and learn about many North American birds of prey such as eagles, hawks, falcons and owls on Friday, November 6, 2009 in the Lenox Library reading room from 6:00–7:00 PM with cider and doughnuts to follow.
Birds of prey are also known as raptors, and they are hunting birds characterized by hooked beaks and powerful grabbing feet armed with sharp talons (the word raptor comes from a Latin word that means “to seize”). Raptors can also boast the best eyesight and the sharpest hearing in the animal kingdom. Raptors include eagles, hawks, falcons and owls. The presentation, with live birds from each raptor family, gives an overview of each of these different categories. The program is designed to explain predation, the birds’ place at the top of the food web, their different hunting adaptations and their status in a rapidly changing world. Because many birds of prey are declining in number, this presentation also features one or more of the endangered raptors, and explains why these species face an uncertain future.
The cost is $4.00 per person or $15.00 for a family of 4 or more with children 2 and under free. All proceeds benefit the children’s programs at the Lenox Library. Tickets will be sold at the door. Cameras are welcome!!!
