Every nonprofit corporation, including Lenox Library Association, is governed by a committee that sets policy, oversees funding, and makes major decisions that affect the organization. There is no one person in charge. At Lenox Library, that committee is called the Board of Managers.
The Board of Managers is made up of people who have long-term interests in the town of Lenox and its library. They represent community businesses, part-time and full-time residents, parents, singles, and older adults. The town manager and two selectmen also serve on the Board. The Board meets several times per year. The various committees, where most of the work of the Board occurs, meet as needed.
Once a year, the Board has its Annual Meeting to review the work of the past year, install new members, and to gear up for the year ahead. This year, the Board of Managers will hold the Annual Meeting on Thursday, October 28 at 7:00 pm in the Sedgwick Reading Room at the library. Are you curious about what the Board does and how the library is doing? Do you have an opinion about what it could be doing? Would you like to help on the Board or one of its many committees? If you have an idea, or want to serve, or are simply curious, please attend the annual meeting. The public will learn how to become involved with the running of Lenox Library, and will be given the opportunity to ask questions.
