In celebration of Mental Health Awareness Month, Lenox Library is pleased to continue our partnership with The Brien Center for Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services for their Community Conversations series.
Join us on Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at 5:00 p.m. for a conversation with The Brien Center’s Medical Director Dr. Jennifer Michaels and Jennifer Kircher, LMHC, Division Director of Adult and Family Services, about “Loneliness: Causes, Coping, and Creating Change.”
About our speakers: Jennifer Michaels, MD is the Medical Director of the Brien Center, an Assistant Professor at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, and an attending psychiatrist at Berkshire Medical Center.
She is a frequent guest on Public Radio, WAMC, and is a committed community educator on topics related to addiction, mental health and mindfulness. Dr. Michaels has been treating people with mental health and addiction issues for over 25 years.
Dr. Michaels is dual board certified in adult and addiction psychiatry. She is a national mentor for the Physician Clinical Support System, a program providing training and education to physicians treating people with addictions. She received her medical degree from NYU School of Medicine.
Jennifer Kircher, LMHC, began her career at the Brien Center in 2019 when she was named Program Director of the agency’s Child and Adolescent Division. In 2021, Jennifer was elevated to Assistant Division Director of the Adult and Family Services Division, where she supervised the day-to-day functions of the division, including outpatient mental health and substance use services county-wide. In addition, she provided clinical and administrative supervision to program management supervisors and directors, among other responsibilities. She was named Division Director in 2023.
Jennifer received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature and Psychology, Cum Laude, from Western New England University, followed by a Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology from Boston College Lynch Graduate School of Education. She is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in both New York and Massachusetts, and received a post-graduate certificate in the Treatment of Trauma from Boston University School of Social Work.
