Community Access to the Arts (CATA) and Lenox Library are pleased to present truth, forest, mouse: A CATA Reading and Art Exhibit.
Join CATA at the Lenox Library for an exciting reading of poetry and prose from the CATA Writers’ Workshop!
Through heartfelt, thought-provoking, and often humorous work, CATA writers with disabilities express their unique perspectives and reveal common experiences that connect us all. Join us for a fun and free evening of CATA writing—plus an exhibit of paintings, drawings, and mixed-media work by CATA artists in the Welles Gallery!
Space is limited, and reservations are required for this free event. Register online at CATAarts.org/reading2023. You can also call CATA at 413-528-5485 or email KateHarding@CATAarts.org.
*Thanks to CATA writer Hannah Belson for inspiring the title of this event!
This event is made possible thanks to Canyon Ranch, Frames on Wheels, the Massachusetts Cultural Council, and other generous supporters.
About the CATA Writers’ Workshop: The CATA Writers’ Workshop is a weekly class led by writer and CATA faculty artist Janet Reich Elsbach where writers with disabilities share their perspectives in short stories, autobiography, poetry, and more.
About the exhibit in the Welles Gallery: In conjunction with CATA’s reading, an exhibit of paintings, drawings, and collages by CATA artists with disabilities will be on display in the Welles Gallery through March 15, 2023. All works in the exhibit are professionally matted, framed, and available for sale, with proceeds supporting commissions for the individual artists. Through color, mood, and imagery, the artwork selected for this exhibit connects to stories and poetry written by artists with disabilities in the CATA Writers’ Workshop.
