Hey Builders! Be a part of the February 2022 Lego Gallery show! For two weeks, we’re going to turn the Welles Gallery into a space to display your favorite Lego builds. Builds can be from a kit or a MOC (My Own Creation). Children, teens, and adults are all encouraged to display any Lego build that they are proud of and that brings them joy. Builds will be displayed behind plexiglass so that little fingers won’t be able to reach them. A small prize will be given to each child who displays a build. Here’s how it will work:
February 8-12, 2022: Drop off your Lego creation at the Library. Participants are allowed to bring two separate creations. You will be asked to create a name tag for your build.
February 15-26, 2022: Come enjoy the Lego Gallery during the open hours of the Library. Lego Gallery is free and open to the public. No registration necessary.
March 1-5, 2022: Return to the Library to pick up your creation.
Part of the challenge will be in figuring out how to transport your special build to the Library safely. Think of this as an engineering project. What packaging can you construct that will allow the build to be moved with minimal damage? This also might be a chance for social/emotional growth. Lego creations might break during the move. How will you handle this? How can you prepare for this ahead of time? (Ideas: Bring the kit directions with you. Or take photos of your build from all sides so that you can rebuild if you need to.)
