The Lenox Library is pleased to join the Berkshire Domestic & Sexual Violence Task Force’s One Book, One Community read of Stop Telling Women to Smile: Stories of Street Harassment and How We’re Taking Back Our Power by Tatyana Fazlalizadeh. We invite you to join us for a virtual book discussion on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at 4:00 p.m.; Jennifer Goewey, shelter director at Elizabeth Freeman Center, will facilitate the discussion.
We ask that you please register in advance for this meeting; click here to register. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.
One Book, One Community book discussion groups will take place throughout the Berkshires between February and April and culminate in a community webinar featuring author Tatyana Fazlalizadeh from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. on April 29, the end of Sexual Assault Awareness Month. Through a narrated slideshow of her work, Fazlalizadeh will document the chronic sexual harassment experienced by women in public spaces around the country and across the globe. Stop Telling Women to Smile is a project she developed to challenge and interrupt this form of gender-based violence. Following the presentation, there will be a question-and-answer period. The event is free and open to the public, but preregistration is required.
